ASPV Primary Principal Kathy Selitzer inaugurated the exhibition “Flor de Amor” (Flower of Love) on exhibit at Los Mangos Library here in Puerto Vallarta. Preschool teacher Mrs. Mary Godínez who worked with Pre-K students to produce papier-mâché sculptures based on those found along the Malecón organized the exhibition.

The idea was to make students aware of the art that surrounds them in Vallarta. Students also learned that using art as a vehicle they could communicate ideas, feelings, and emotions allowing students to make real world connections and develop their own creativity. To accomplish this, students took a field trip to the Málecon and Galeria Uno to get students to familiarize themselves with Vallarta art and develop their own sculptures and paintings in different styles and techniques seen throughout the city.

Congratulations to Mrs. Mary Godínez for her fantastic work and for encouraging our students to develop their artistic abilities. We also congratulate Pre-School students on their great artwork and exhibition.

The exhibit is open to the public and will run through Sunday, May 18.
