NHS Students Share Joy of Reading with Rural Educators
Leer y Crecer: Partnering ASPV and Rural Educators
High school National Honor Society students recently spent the day with 29 educators from rural schools in El Veladero, Verde Valle, Lomas del Valle, El Jorullo, Nogalito, Rancho Nacar, El Hundido, and Tomatlan. American School of Puerto Vallarta teachers Ms. Kyliel Casillas and Ms. Lisa Schalla led a workshop, with students responsible for not only the logistics of the event, but also for sharing activities that they had created to accompany children’s stories. The participants and their schools received books, posters, puppets, and other supplies that ASPV students and parents have donated to Leer y Crecer, including:
Posters made by Debora Mestre’s service group
Stuffed animals to serve as classroom mascots from the middle and high school students
New and used story books
School supplies
Puppets and scenery boards from Ms. Kyliel and Ms. Schalla’s students
A special THANK YOU for your support!
