Science students are reviewing and practicing the steps of the scientific method. Students in fourth and fifth grades completed their first science lab of the school year; Saving Sam. Students were responsible for rescuing Sam (a gummy worm) whose boat (a plastic cup) capsized in the ocean. Students were required to work as a team using only paperclips to put a personal flotation device (a gummy lifesaver) around Sam and place him on top of his boat. This lab required the students to use the scientific method to determine the most effective way to rescue Sam, communicate and follow directions.
