The students of Kinder 3 were learning about different kinds of nocturnal animals when we discovered a problem about bats that we wanted to solve. When we spoke to a bat expert from the CUC, he told us that some people killed bats and that some bats were endangered. He said that it was because people didn’t understand bats and were afraid of them, like some of our students. Our students who were frightened of bats told us that they weren’t afraid of them anymore, because they had learned that bats were helpful animals and wouldn’t hurt us or turn into vampires. We didn’t want anyone to hurt bats anymore, so we decided to teach our school community about bats through an exhibit. Our students are learning that they can change people’s ideas in order to help solve problems.
