On May 23, 1929, at the Santo Domingo Plaza of Mexico City, a student demonstration met violent resistance from the authorities. The students sought autonomy for their university. For this reason and since that date our country has celebrated the “Students’ Day.” At our school this celebration entails forming teams in junior high school and high school and participating in competing activities to find a winning team. The games are popular and fun. At the end of the day, students enjoy a taquiza.
