At ASPV, we are committed to guiding students as they take the next step in their academic journey. Whether pursuing higher education in Mexico or abroad, taking a gap year, or exploring alternative pathways, we provide personalized support to help students make informed decisions that align with their aspirations.
Our College Guidance Counselor works closely with students and families to identify universities that best match their academic goals, learning styles, and extracurricular interests. Factors such as location, field of study, and financial considerations are carefully evaluated to ensure each student finds a place where they can thrive, learn, and build a successful future.
Personalized College Counseling & Seminar Class
ASPV offers a structured, step-by-step approach to college preparation through our weekly Seminar class, led by our College Guidance Counselor, Ms. Allison Marx. The program is designed to meet students where they are in the process:
- Grade 10: Focus on vocational guidance, self-discovery, and career exploration.
- Grade 11: Introduction to the college application process, including building a college list, preparing for standardized tests (PSAT, SAT), writing and refining college application essays, attending college fairs, and meeting with university representatives.
- Grade 12: Finalizing and submitting applications, preparing for interviews, and tackling practical next steps—from visa applications to transitioning to college life.
ASPV families are always welcome to schedule one-on-one meetings with our counselor to receive additional guidance and support.
College Admission Testing
The American School of Puerto Vallarta is an official SAT and TOEFL test center. Many universities worldwide require standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT (the ACT is offered in Guadalajara).
Students must register for these exams through their College Board account, using the following codes:
- ASPV High School Code: 870900
- ASPV Test Center Code: 69227
We typically administer the SAT in October, November, December, May, and June. For the December or January SAT, students may need to test in Guadalajara or another location.
At ASPV, our goal is to equip students with the tools, resources, and confidence to navigate the college admissions process and successfully transition into the next chapter of their lives.
